Flowers in Georgia

Introductory note:
Georgia is a country that is very rich botanically, with 4,400 species of vascular plants occurring in its 76,400 square kilometre territory. The climate is diverse; it is semi-tropical in the south-west, semi-desert in the south-east, with a mediterranean climate in the south, while the north comprises sub-alpine and alpine meadows. Katharine Fedden spent ten days in Georgia, looking at plants, birds and the wonderful churches.
