Der Ferienhausgarten, Gärtnern unter südlicher Sonne

by Ilse Höger, DVA, Munich, 2010

This is a book for everyone who gardens in Southern Europe - the Côte d'Azur, Mallorca, Provence, Tuscany - or near the Italian lakes such as Lago Maggiore.

The first part consists of a general introduction about gardening in the South, with tips on planning and managing a garden. This is followed by a section on gardening through the seasons, giving specialised information for the various different regions. The third part of the book contains portraits of the plants that can be used (trees, shrubs, climbers, perennial plants, bulbs, succulents, palms, yuccas, etc). There is an index of the botanical names and German common names of the plants. The book is illustrated with beautiful photographs of some of the best gardens and many pictures of the plants referred to.
